Parking on recycled plastic?

Parking bays made from recycled plastic have been installed on Jan van Vuchtstraat in Rotterdam.

PlasticRoad designs, creates and supplies sustainable, climate-resilient and circular plastic road elements made from household plastic waste.

PlasticRoad elements have a hollow interior. This allows them to collect and store water and release it into the ground, benefiting the soil. A PlasticRoad parking bay contains around 847,000 coffee cups.

An information video from the Municipality of Rotterdam explains exactly how the parking bays were installed here.

It is good to see innovation being used to make parking bays circular too.
