The business case for a mobility hub!

Last week's MCD seminar explored the following themes:
✅ Who is responsible for a mobility hub?
✅ What should a mobility hub cost?
✅ What is its value to society?
Three keynote speakers shared their views and experiences of mobility hubs:
Raymond Gense of Pon spoke about profits and losses, what works, what does not and, more importantly, why: 'We think too much about technical solutions and too little about the traveller.'
Martin Courtz of Provincie Drenthe discussed inclusive hubs, particularly their social significance and the value a hub can add to residents' quality of life in the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen.
Giuliano Mingardo of Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam offered a more sceptical view of mobility hubs from his field of research. He identified three factors affecting the success of the business case: the number of hub users, the types of activity that can generate revenue and the size of the hub.
The seminar concluded that:
🔹There is still a long way to go.
🔹We need to learn from and experiment with business cases for mobility hubs.
🔹We must keep investing and learning.
Thank you to Master City Developer, Acquire and MobiliteitsPlatform for organising this interesting seminar with engaging speakers offering different perspectives.
